Hello all,
Claire had contractions on and off for a few days. Her due date came and went. At 2 in the morning Claire had contractions that kept going. We were in the hospital by about 5am. Things were going well until the contractions started to fade. We walked up and down the flights of stairs over and over, however it was not until her waters broke that things progressed much further. Claire used gas and air for the duration of the labour and went into 2nd stage labour at about 11:45am. Ruth was born on 03-Nov-2008 in Basingstoke hospital at 12:40.

Tired mummy and Ruth Proud Daddy

Ruth weighed 8 pounds 15 (4.06kg)

Our midwife was fantastic and Claire was brilliant.

We had a bit of chill out tie before Grandma Jessica and Joseph arrived.
Claire was then moved to a ward with 4 other ladies who also had given birth to girls. Claire and Ruth slept well that night.
The kids came to visit again the next day. Claire was released from hospital on the same evening.

Claire has felt flutters for a few weeks, but felt definite kicking today. She also heard the babies heart beat on Wednesday 28th May at her appointment with the midwife. Jessica got very exited and understands that there is a baby in Mummy’s tummy.

Claire tripped on the stair gate and skiied down the stairs. On the way down she managed to break her toe. After some persuasion she visited the hospital the next evening. This confirmed that her big toe was chipped. It will heal, but the kids keep stepping on it.

So how did this happen?
Jessica was playing in the ball pit of a kiddies play gym. She jumped in of a step and fractured her shin bone. (spiral fracture)
David was helping a friend strip wall paper and was called to meet the family at the hospital. We all met up. Jessica was x-rayed and plastered twice. The first was up to her knee the second was a full leg cast. David and Jessica stayed overnight at the hospital. (we got a little sleep) The nurse checked Jessicas toes every hour to make sure they hadn’t gone numb due to swelling
We got out of hospital on sunday afternoon. (Claire braved a blizard to get back to the hospital in the car) We returned to the hospital on Monday to get a harder surface for Jessicas plaster. Hence her leg is purple.

Its all happening in the Bleakley home with young Joseph, first crawling and then a tooth today. It is a front top tooth and its razor sharp. He was gumming my thumb earlier in the day, with his tooth on my nail. He managed to miss it on one occasion and almost drew blood.
His crawling is improving by the minute. He now frequents the coal at every opportunity, we have to have eyes like hawks or he will have some in his mouth.
He is also getting much better at going to bed. Pop him in, a wee cry for a few seconds and then he is asleep.
Jessica is getting more and more helpful. She helps to tidy up, gets Joseph`s nappies, does a bit of hoovering etc…
